Teeth Whitening

Dental whitening is the process of using a peroxide compound to bleach the enamel of teeth. This technique can be used to lighten stains caused by food and drink, plaque accumulation, and tobacco use. It is most commonly marketed as “whitening”.

Before bleaching, the dentist may apply a phosphoric acid solution to remove surface stains. This also helps prepare the tooth for additional procedures by smoothing out irregularities on its surface. The most common type of bleaching agent used is hydrogen peroxide gel. A thin layer is painted on the teeth and allowed to dry for a few minutes. The gel is activated by either heat from a special light or an acid solution which may be applied with a cotton swab or brush depending on the concentration of peroxide used.

Veneers

Veneers

Dental veneers are thin shells of tooth-colored material that are bonded to the front surface of teeth for both functional and aesthetic reasons. Aesthetically, veneers are often used to mask stains, chips, cracks, or other minor flaws in a patient’s smile. Functionally, they can be used as part of a cosmetic makeover or to correct tetracycline staining or other dental discolorations. Veneers are also used to restore the shape, size, and alignment of teeth that have been worn down by tooth-grinding habits.

Veneers are custom-made from porcelain or plastic material that is carefully sculpted to achieve a natural appearance. Their color can be matched precisely with the surrounding teeth as well as with adjacent veneers. The surface of the veneer is then polished to ensure that it does not feel rough when your lips touch the teeth and gums.

Bonding

Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure that straightens and reshapes chipped, stained, misshapen, or slightly misaligned teeth. In dental bonding, a tooth-colored putty is used to fill in the damaged area of the tooth. The putty hardens and becomes part of the tooth.

Once bonded with dental fillers, the tooth becomes virtually indistinguishable from the rest of your teeth. It looks and feels completely natural, allowing you to eat and drink anything you want without thinking twice about it.

Dental bonding is a popular way for people who need minor cosmetic dental procedures performed to improve their smile. The procedure takes just one visit and there is no discomfort associated with the treatment. The procedure is also inexpensive compared to veneers or crowns.

Smile Makeovers

A full smile makeover is a cosmetic treatment that can improve your overall dental health, natural beauty, and self-confidence. Cosmetic dentistry is minimally invasive, allowing most patients to resume their daily life quickly after the procedure. This includes brushing and flossing as normal with special considerations given to the teeth most visible when smiling.

The procedure itself usually involves teeth whitening and veneers if needed, while gum contouring can help remove any extra tissue for a healthier-looking smile. Bonding can fix small chips, cracks, and uneven teeth while reshaping the gums using a laser might be necessary to give your face a balanced look. In most cases, patients can expect their teeth to feel completely normal after the veneers have been attached or other procedures have been completed.
